Past and Present is Tavik’s way of paying homage to the musicians that may have been forgotten, but continue to inspire us today. In each installment we take music from earlier generations and compare it to the songs they influence today.

Syd Barrett began as a founding member of Pink Floyd, and due to his progressive use of psychedelic drugs, departed from the group after the first album (The Piper at the Gates of Dawn, 1967). In 1970, he released two solo albums, both providing an intimate look at his increasing insanity. Dutch artist Jacco Gardner may not be suffering from an LSD binge, but produces music of similar style, reminiscent of early Floyd. Listen to Syd Barrett’s “Terrapin” and Jacco Gardner’s “Lullaby”.
