Past and Present is Tavik’s way of paying homage to the musicians that may have been forgotten, but continue to inspire us today. In each installment we take music from earlier generations and compare it to the songs they influence today.

Based in the UK, Temples have been labeled as the newest addition to the modern psychedelic scene. The music tends regurgitate rhythms and chord progressions of early psych albums (Piper at the Gates of Dawn, The Psychedelic Sounds of the 13th Floor Elevators), and lacks the innovation true psych was once saturated with. While they may not be groundbreaking, they did manage to find an accessible middle ground between pop and psych. Listen to “Colours to Life” off of their 2014 album Sun Structures, and “Lucifer Sam” off of Pink Floyd’s 1967 album Piper at the Gates of Dawn.
