Past and Present is Tavik’s way of paying homage to the musicians that may have been forgotten, but continue to inspire us today. In each installment we take music from earlier generations and compare it to the songs they influence today.
While today’s post may not contain content from the “present”, that doesn’t mean these songs should go unnoticed. The Beatles released Revolver in 1966, closing the album with an avante-garde masterpiece entitled “Tomorrow Never Knows”. A mere decade later, band Roxy Music went on hiatus, during which the supergroup 801 was formed. Playing only three shows, they are well recognized for their experimental interpretation of “Tomorrow Never Knows”. Listen to both versions below.
