Tavik presents "Au Revoir", a celebration of the adventurous spirit featuring muse Rikki Barton.

The short was shot on location at the historic Beckman estate in Corona Del Mar. The storyline follows Rikki while she packs for a hot getaway during the off season.

The staging was inspired by the historic shot of Kate Moss reading in a bathtub, shot by Sante D'Orazio for Italian Vogue in 1995. Rikki caught our eye at a recent Tavik event, so when the opportunity came up to shoot at the historic house, we knew we had found the perfect location and story line for this classic beauty. Rikki is wearing the TAVIK Noir Woven over an upcoming TAVIK Swimwear suit.

With Weekend One just 93 days away, Coachella revealed its 2015 lineup with headliners Jack White, Drake, and AC/DC. Other big sub-headliners include Florence & the Machine, Tame Impala, St. Vincent, David Guetta, Kaskade, Belle & Sebastian, Alt-J, and The Weeknd.

We're really excited to see Jack White, who's such a talented artist that stays true to his sound, headlining this huge event. For AC/DC, this is the band’s first confirmed US tour in five years with a debut performance at Coachella. Ratatat is also coming out of the woodwork and will be playing their first show in four years. French Artist, Gessafelstein, has announced that this will be his last live performance ever, so be sure not to miss him on Sunday.

Walk us through the design team’s innovation process for the spring summer 2015 collection?

For me, the 2015 collection started while browsing through my personal collection of vintage Vogue magazines from the 90s. It was this inspiration that helped create most of the shapes you will see. I love the sexy silhouettes and modern, sporty vibe. Originally  from Canada, I have a strong appreciation for the Californian landscape and its unique colour palette. I was inspired by all parts of CA – from Malibu sunsets to gritty downtown LA buildings. The designs were also influenced from street style and the Southern CA beach culture.

What will we see you wearing from the new collection?

One of my favorite suits from the 2015 collection is the KORA top – A demi cup underwire top with mesh paneling, paired with our classic JAYDEN bottom. Both pieces are perfect for my next Palm Springs weekend getaway, where you can find me poolside sipping on a Desert Facial (one of my all time favorite cocktails at the Ace Hotel.)

The fashion industry is a bit of a hard one to crack, how did you get your foot in the door?

I got my start in the fashion industry at age 15, working in retail in my hometown of Kelowna, BC Canada. Later,  I graduated fashion school with a Visual Merchandising and Design Degree, in Vancouver, BC. Over the years I worked in many different parts of the fashion industry, including running my own showroom for the West Coast of Canada. I made the move to CA in the summer of 2011 and got a lucky start through networking and my personal Tumblr; 100shadesofgrey (named before the book!). All of this landed me my current position at Tavik.

What’s the next big thing coming out of Tavik?

The release of Tavik Women’s Apparel for Spring/Summer 2015, which we are really excited about. The range consists of luxe casualwear that can easily be transitioned from day to night.

Our talented and gorgeous Women's designer, Carly Osler, was recently featured in GALORE Magazine's "AGENDA: 6 Brands We Love & Think You Will Too". Check out the interview below to see what inspires her and which TAVIK essentials she can't go without.

The TAVIK girl is born and raised on modern beach culture, taking timeless concepts that clash with the dark digital lifestyle. She is confident, edgy, and an enthusiast of wearable minimalism- effortlessly transitioning pieces from day to night. She creates a modern vibe wherever she goes. She can throw on her favorite TAVIK suit and romper for a day at the rooftop pool then out to meet her girlfriends to see the local band at the Ace Theater.What sparked your interest in fashion? 

My grandma was always very glamorous in a shimmery, avant-garde sort of way. My cousin, Alexa, and I used to spend hours in her closet playing dress up and dreaming of owning a wardrobe like hers one day.

TAVIK started as a men’s brand with women’s swimwear. When did you realize you had the passion and drive to go beyond swimwear and design a full collection? 

The TAVIK girls and I love wearing pieces from the men’s collection. We feel that there is a need in the women’s market for easy transitional pieces that can be worn from day to night, beach to street. It felt like the right time to expand into apparel. Most of the women’s apparel prints are taken from the swim collection, so they can be paired as a cover up or dressed up with heels or boots. We have also expanded into women’s tech accessories, like iPhone, iPad and laptop cases.

TAVIK’s men’s line could be worn by females, too. Do you have any tips for women mixing menswear into their day-to-day look? What pieces from the men’s collection should every female covet?

I basically live in laidback men’s shirts and sweaters. A favorite of all the TAVIK girls is the Dirt Shirt – an ultra thin, worn-in tee that is designed to look “dirty”. I typically pair the shirts and tees with flat boots or sneakers at the office and booties or heels with something leather at night. You can make any menswear outfit look great with the right accessories.

What influenced your latest collection, and how did you use that as inspiration while you were creating?

While staying true to the brand ethos, “Modern Beach Culture”, the 2015 Spring/Summer collection was heavily influenced by 90s Vogue editorials and fashion icons of that era. Being from Canada, I am also inspired by the California landscape and color palette, from Malibu sunsets to the raw brick buildings of downtown LA.

Is your personal style reminiscent of Tavik? What are your top three necessities right now, both within your brand and outside of it?

My personal style is quite boyish – monochromatic with a minimal feel. TAVIK, similar to my wardrobe, is all about dark, digital beach patterns with tons of black, white, grey, and seasonal pops of color. My top three necessities right now within the line are the Dirt Shirt, the men’s Shin woven, and the Bianca mesh bralette. Outside of the brand, I have been living in my Adidas Stan Smiths, Wonderland Sunglasses, and an Isabel Marant sweater.  

Are you self-taught or did you study design? How did you turn your craft into your profession?

A bit of both. I have always had a love for fashion. I graduated from fashion school with a Visual Merchandising and Design degree in Vancouver, BC. When does your new 2015 collection hit your web store?

Be on the lookout early February. 

Lastly, what advice can you give aspiring designers? What advice would you have given yourself when you really needed it?

Work hard, network, network, network, and intern! Don’t be afraid to work from the bottom up, and listen to your gut.

Kaylee Ricciardi is an East Coast girl with an affinity for care-free sandy days in Newport Beach.  Check out the interview below where she reveals her number one beauty essential and how she keeps her bikini bod all year long.

 Modern Beach is a lifestyle, a vibe and a feeling you can take anywhere. Where or what is your #ModernBeach?

When I think of #ModernBeach my memories of being a summer beach bum, posted up at the beach in Newport all day (in a bikini) until the sun sets come to mind.  Walking around barefoot with salty skin and hair. That summer high is one of the best feelings I can think of and resonates with the modern beach lifestyle.

How long have you been modeling?

I have been modeling for the past 5 years. I started to take it more seriously the past two when it became my career and primary source of income. However, I had been dabbling in it a ton before then :)

What is it like on set at a TAVIK photo shoot?

Out of all the companies I've worked for, Tavik is one of my favorite. Not just because of what the brand encompasses or the products, but the team behind it.  I have gotten the pleasure of meeting a lot of the masterminds behind the company and I love and respect them all, which is why we have so much fun on set. We enjoy working together so the vibe on set is playful and easy going.

What’s your favorite piece from the Spring 2015 Collection? 

The Iza One Piece in Lilac.

And the Ziggy Top and Ali Bottom in Coral. 

Do you have a diet or exercise routine to prepare for a photo shoot?  

Haha I try to be as healthy as a I can 70% of the time, eating raw foods, running, walking & playing outside, but I have many moments of not giving a shit. I am addicted to froyo and I am proud! I also work at Pure Barre (a ballet pilates based workout) and am obsessed with how quickly I see results from just a few classes, so that's my little secret for staying lean.

What are some of the tricks of the trade for staying photo shoot ready year round? 

Always stay active physically, and try to stay active testing/shooting as much as possible. You can only get better with practice and help keep yourself prepared to shoot at anytime. I am always running around going to meetings, test shoots, ecomm shoots and working out, so I have little time to sit and veg on my couch.

Your number one beauty essential is… 

My number one beauty essential is mascara. I think it can change the whole look of my/anyones face and make your eyes pop.  If I am not shooting, I usually don't wear any makeup except for mascara. I almost feel naked without it!

What's the best beauty advice you've ever received? 

The best beauty advice I ever received was, "less is more".  When it comes to makeup, hair, and wardrobe, minimalism is best.  I think the most flattering looks can be the most simplistic. Ladies-- you don't need to paint your face and look like you are going to prom every night to be beautiful.

Who in your life is guaranteed to always make you laugh? 

Every single one of my friends! That's why I keep them around! I surround myself with the wittiest and most loyal people I can find and I don't let them go.  Whats better than a trustworthy person who makes you laugh 24/7?! Nothing!! :)

What do you love doing in your free time?

I secretly love to paint and draw.  I don't do it as much as I would like because I don't half-ass it.  If I am going to sit down and get creative, I need to be inspired and have to allocate all of my attention to it. It can be time consuming---meaning I am up all night painting! It comes in waves, some months I'm feeling it, and sometimes I am not!

If you weren’t a model, your dream job would be…

My dream job would be working for Vice, traveling the world and getting to be on set for their outrageous interviews/segments. The stuff they capture is unbelievable, never a dull moment!

Where are you from and where do you call home now?

I am from a little suburb north of Boston, MA, but currently call Brentwood Los Angeles home.  I am 100% an East Coast girl at heart though!

What’s one thing that you can’t go a day without? 

I can't go a day without exercise.  I love to get up and move... unless I'm really hung over haha. But lately I've been on a health kick and can't stop running. I find it's the best part of my day and my time to clear my head. Plus I get those much needed endorphins.

How do you feel about the Coachella lineup this year?

I feel pretty good about it! I think a lot of the "smaller" acts will be amazing. I can't wait to see Chet Faker, Alison Wonderland, Glass Animals, Hozier, Lykke Li, and Odeza. And I'm not gonna lie... I love Drake. I can't wait for him to serenade me :)

Do you have a favorite photo that’s ever been taken of you? 

I actually don't. I take photos so frequently I can love a photo of myself for like two weeks then it's usually replaced by something better.  I feel like that's how it should be if you're a working model. You should be taking better and better photos, so your old favorite should be soon replaced by a new ones.
